cutting through the noise

A FREESTYLE & MOVEMENT INTENSIVE

Bringing you home to your authentic, moving voice.

with Tracee Kafer
Friday June 28th - Sunday June 30th, 2024
Hosted at
Studio Nightshade (Tampa, FL)

Do you know…

Where your movement comes from?
What parts of yourself you experience when you move, and what parts you don’t?
How to listen to your body, and to truly be with what emerges in the moment?
What noise (within and around you) blocks your from hearing your own creative voice?

Whether we are talking about the noise of your thoughts, in the classroom, from social media, or influences past and present, there is relentless N O I S E all around you… a kind of ongoing babble that makes it difficult to be in the moment, and to create from your own urge.

So this intensive is about clearing some necessary space… to better hear yourself and your movement.
It’s about dropping in so you can feel (yourself and the present) more deeply.
It’s about growing more aware of your creative voice and its promptings.
It’s about becoming a better collaborator with what’s here to be danced —
in the room, in your body, and in your life.

Together in the company of a like-minded group of movers and practitioners, we’ll journey through unique movement exercises and experiential processes both together and on your own.

You’ll unwind more willingness to express with the body you have and let others feel and experience more of who you are through your movement.

Ready to feel less controlled by the noise in and around you?

We’ll Explore

- what drives your movement
- your willingness to really see and be seen
- how you listen to your body, the music, the room, your inner artist
- how to do less and narrow focus to expand your awareness
- how your energies (their centers and their elements) dance you
- the dance of your breath, feelings, sensations
- internal vs. external orientation (performing vs experiencing)
- meeting parts of you that control and hinder (like your inner punisher)

Your Facilitator: Tracee Kafer

About FYF Creator, Tracee Kafer

Tracee Kafer, the creator of Finding Your Freestyle®, has a near-lifetime of experience in the world of dance, and 16 years focus on the art of pole. She’s journeyed through the landscapes of a student, performer, nationally-ranked competitor, world-traveling teacher, NY-based choreographer, and in the last decade shifted purposefully to the realms of the explorer.

Practicing and facilitating her own ever-evolving freestyle movement methods in the energetics of groups, she aims to continuously untether from genre, style, convention, and apparatus in order to gather in the communal love of moving from an authentic voice. She believes that if you can move (and feel), you can dance, and in honoring that process as a life practice, you can live in a world of presence, connection, and freedom.

Tracee has in recent years begun integrating movement with other modalities that center on the somatic experience and deeper practices of self-exploration, including Family & Systemic Constellations, the Tarot, parts work, guided imagery, and embodied meditation.

What You Bring is Welcome

The noise

〰️

The noise 〰️

Wherever you go, the potential noise travels with you. Maybe your noise is an inner critic, a preference keeping you in a comfort zone, maybe it survives on Instagram, arrives when you look in the mirror, or thrives when you compare yourself to others.

In recognizing what is your “noise”, you can stop feeding into its loudness, giving it too much attention and too much of your energy. Your ability to intentionally shift the gear towards owning your true voice instead of being an echo of something that is not yours.

In meeting this “noise”, you begin to befriend the thing that once felt in the way but now can either be retired or even become a cooperative aspect of your creativity and artistry.

We all know how delicious it is when we can step away from spaces that are noisy, and it’s the same for our own creativity.

Expectations & Levels

Current lovers of (or those curious) about pole dance freestyle, movement exploration, embodiment, self-inquiry, and mindfulness practices are encouraged to attend.

Intensives can have an amplifying affect, and over the course of this intensive you may move though feeling challenged, nourished, resistant, and/or inspired. It is recommended that you have ample resources for an experience like this — people, places, and things that support your regulation, self-connection, and grounding. It is also important if possible to have some space before/during/after the experience for rest, digestion, and integration.

We don't work at a particular technical or skill level, we work with the forms, ability, and access your body has at present. Same goes for any non-moving practices we use. You can be new, a hobbyist, professional, semi-retired, or all the way to mastery, all is welcome.

💬 Breakthroughs are happening and I can’t wait to dig deeper.
💬 Challenges and joy merging together.
💬 Brought a huge mental shift for me.
