Soul Movement Retreat is a seven day exploration of your deeper self through dance, movement, spacious somatic practices, creative self-inquiry, meditation and sound healing.
Held by three highly-experienced, compassionate facilitators and in community with an intimate group of like-minded movers, practitioners and seekers, this experience is built intentionally for your nourishment and renewal and is set in a lush and restorative environment with energetically vibrant foods and direct contact with nature, the elements, animals, and plant life.
This retreat provides space for creative expression, rest, and connection, and would serve well during times of life transition, growth, hibernation and reset. Our intention is to offer a transforming experience in a stunning and memorable location, combining complimentary practices with facilitators who are inventive and work together as a loving team.

A note about ability: We don't work at a particular technical or skill level, we work with the forms, ability, and access your body has at present. Same goes for meditation and non-moving practices. You can be new, a hobbyist, professional, semi-retired, or all the way to mastery, all is welcome.

IMAGINE YOURSELF HERE…
It’s still dark. But that hazy, dewy dark where you can still make out form. My eyelids adjust to the expanse as my ears attune to the alive frequency of the jungle: the ocean in the distance, the birds, the soft movement of the breeze through the leaves, and all the creatures that call this space home.
If you listen carefully you can hear a sweet tune, the sounds of all the souls awakening to greet the morning light. On days where there’s a slight rain, the sounds become all the more amplified by the cleanse, as though the rain allows their specific sound to be tuned like a radio dial.
As I make my way out of bed, I stop for a moment to take it all in, a brief sonata worthy of the grandest symphony hall.
I can already smell the coffee brewing upstairs and head up to grab a few mugs before breakfast is even served. Back in my room, I meditate: on my breath, on the day, the gifts, the gratitude, and the intentions that emerge from the ether. I move my body in small ways to wake her up, to feel her fullness. The sun is rising and its rays are washing away that haze to make way for clarity; this metaphor is both literal and figurative as that is how my morning ritual goes.
Each morning, something becomes clear. Even if that clarity is that nothing is yet clear.
But the sun always rises, the morning dew fades, and souls begin the day again. There is comfort (and clarity) in being a part of that.
Eventually I head up to breakfast, where the most beautiful spread awaits me; how am I so lucky? Friends greet each other with silent but hungry nods, everyone finding their own way to enjoy the first meal of the day, some together, some apart. Fresh fruit, traditional Costa Rican fare, more and more and more coffee (it’s delightful).
From the dining area you can see the ocean. It calls for us throughout the day, whether we can see it or not. I know we’ll find our way there later, as a group, to greet her, dance with her, and extend our gratitude for her existence.
Morning session starts soon and it’s time to prepare. I am full, nourished, and replenished by this sweet morning ritual…

The Hermitage rooms located in the main building are specifically designed for singles, providing privacy and elegance, while being budget friendly. Some rooms have seasonal partial views of the ocean or some of the mountains nearby, a queen-sized bed, a private bathroom with solar hot water and A/C. Also available with two twin beds.
Hear from Jess on her experience staying in this room: “The Hermitage room is like a sweet little oasis; it’s just the perfect size for what you need. The balcony overlooks the beautiful lush treescape, complete with monkeys and birds, and is a really nice place to have morning coffee away. The beds are really comfortable, and the room has an abundance of light. There is air-conditioning if you need it, but there is often a lot of natural breeze that flows through. It also helps being close to the studios, the cafeteria, and the pool. Can’t recommend this room enough!”

Nature Suites are very cozy and located on a hillside overlooking the lush vegetation. It’s the perfect spot to relax at our Costa Rica retreat center. They are beautifully designed natural wood frame structures and have private bathrooms with an outdoor shower overlooking the jungle. Each Suite sleeps one or two people and includes a separate enclosed porch with a desk. All Suites have solar hot water as well as air conditioning. The Suites are a short walk up the hill to the Main Building. Nature Suites have a safety box large enough to fit a 17″ laptop computer.
Hear from Cecilia on her experience staying in this room: “I stayed in the Nature Suite and really loved it! I feel like I had the full JUNGLE experience. It has an outdoor shower and could hear the birds while showering. The nature all around it is stunning. Located a little away from the main building I actually enjoyed the fact I had extra privacy and time alone. Also, these suites have a bit more extra space than other rooms.”

The Eco-Cottages are a 5-minute hike away via a stone stairway from Blue Spirit’s main building (reception, dining-hall, etc.) and situated in lush vegetation, allowing for a sensual being-in-touch experience with nature.
Each Eco-Cottage consists of a natural wood frame structure that houses two twin beds and a full yet compact ensuite bathroom with an ambient temperature shower.
There are screens for natural ventilation, an overhead ceiling fan, mosquito nets, electric outlet(s), and a safety box large enough to fit a 17″ laptop computer.

These beautiful Superior Ocean View rooms have a step-out balcony and lots of windows with extraordinary ocean views.
The room is elegantly furnished to provide the most luxurious space for couples or singles. Each room has a king-sized bed, a private bathroom with solar hot water, air conditioning, and an overhead fan.
These rooms have a safety box large enough to fit a 17″ laptop computer. The Superior Ocean View Rooms are located in the main building, reachable by stairs or elevator.
PACIFICO COTTAGE WITH HAMMOCK & A/C

The Pacifico Cottages are tucked away amidst the lush tropical gardens and close enough to the sandy Pacific beach so that the sound of the ocean will rock you to sleep.
These beautiful and rustic rooms have one queen-size bed for a single person or couple, full en suite bathroom with an outdoor shower, air conditioning, an overhead fan and feature a private porch with a hammock and a daybed, along with a safe big enough to fit a 17″ laptop.
From the main building, the Cottages are a short walk downhill a stone stairway towards the beach.
Normally sold out, as they are only 2 Pacifico Cottages available at the retreat center! They are also BY FAR the closest property to the beach. Privacy galore.
OCEAN VIEW WITH A/C

The Ocean View double rooms have step-out balconies and beautiful ocean views. The rooms are tastefully furnished and provide the perfect space for one or two people. Each room has a king-sized bed, with a private bathroom with solar hot water and air conditioning. These rooms have a safety box large enough to fit a 17″ laptop computer.
Hear from Tracee on her experience staying in this room: “WOW! I loved this room SO. much. It has S P A C E!! (in fact, I enjoyed moving in the free space at the end of the bed, it’s bigger than shown) Not room specific but worth mentioning; the huge bed and soft sheets/linens are great. I enjoyed using the balcony with elevated views and sounds of the ocean waves; a few mornings and evenings spent w/ the howler monkey’s outside in the nearby tree-branches, peacefully eating and making their iconic sounds. There is A/C if you want sweet cool relief from hot days, or open the sliding doors and turn on the fan for natural airflow. The bathroom is a nice size and there is abundant closet and shelf space for your belongings (including beautiful and large mirror doors). There’s also a little workspace, which I enjoyed using. You can’t go wrong with this deluxe room, it’s worth it.
MOUNTAIN VIEW WITH A/C

The Mountain Room double has a step-out balcony and large windows with an extraordinary mountain view to take in the true sound healing in Costa Rica. Super cute, clean, simple and that VIEW! The view to a green luscious jungle. It is so relaxing just to stare out the window. Perfect size, convenient and comfortable.”

RETREAT POLICIES
COVID-19 Policies: Blue Spirit no longer requires wearing face masks, but support any guest or staff who choose to wear one.
Since April 1, the temporary immigration measures for entering Costa Rica – put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic – are repealed.
All commercial establishments, activities, and events can operate at 100% capacity.
Although the use of a mask is not mandatory, it is recommended to maintain the protocol of hand washing and temperature taking, as well as compliance with health protocols in each tourist activity. For further information please check the official site of the Costa Rican Tourism Board. Check Blue Spirit COVID-19 protocols for additional info.
Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel your spot in the retreat, we may be able to offer partial refunds (minus the initial invoice deposit and all admin/authorization fees) only if we can find someone to fully take your spot/reservation before July 1st, 2024. This policy is due to our contractual obligation to pay for all rooms reserved, staff, services, and activities, as well as the annual work involved in producing the event and enrollment process. If we cannot find a person to take your place, we unfortunately cannot offer you any kind of refund. You can, however, transfer your enrollment to another person who can attend in your place!
Event Cancellation Policy: On the rare occurrence that the event will need to be canceled due to COVID-19 or other unforeseen travel issues, your enrollment may be transferred to a rescheduled retreat date or another FYF event happening within the next 2 years (online or in person).
